1886 Hinkletown Area Map
From 1886 Iowa County Atlas
Map Description: Note the long narrow strips of land near and around the site of Hinkletown. These are "wood lots", which are approximately three to ten acre strips of timber used for lumber and mostly for fuel in wood stoves. Note school to left of town. By 1886, the Foote Post Office had moved from Hinkletown to Greene Valley a mile to the northeast. The Post Office was in C.F. Lytle's General Store, which he physically moved to Greene Valley as Hinkletown started to decline, and later he moved his store to Kinross, Iowa to the south four miles.
