And now from Castalia, Ohio comes this pleasant little
surprise of a corn cleaner / corn screener. I was contacted by the
man who makes these and asked if I'd give it a try, and if I liked it,
would I put it on the website? I've tried a few corn cleaners,
although none this simple in design. Seeing it for the first time I
was quite skeptical of its ability: Could anything this simple work
effectively? There are no moving parts! Just a couple
different sized screens and two chutes to separate the cobs, stalks and
fines from the corn.

Why a corn cleaner? Corn burns better when it is clean going in! Corn stove manufactures recommend using clean corn in your corn stove. Clean corn creates a more efficient burn. Cobs, stalks, "bees wings," and other fines can clog, jam and damage moving parts, feeder assemblies, and affect the quality of the burn. |

The top screen catches the big stuff, cobs, stalks and leaves. The smaller screen will not allow the corn kernels to pass through, but lets the fines and "bees wings" drop into the first bucket. The cleaner can be set over two standard plastic five-gallon buckets. So does this simple device move enough corn through it to be time effective? Surprisingly, yes. I was able to clean five gallons of corn in just a couple minutes. You can take this and set it up easily and quickly just outside your door. This is ultra light weight and at 15" X15" X 8", it easily stores away in a closet. No fuss, no worry!

$39.95 makes this one of the best buys on the market!

Simple, lightweight, easy and effective. The dirty corn goes in at the top and clean corn comes out in the bucket to the right. The cobs and stalks stay up top and the fines and small particles drop in the bucket to the left. I tried this device with some extra dirty corn, and was amazed at the quality of corn coming out the chute at the end. |
| The clean corn comes out
the chute and drops into the bucket, separating the clean corn from the
chaff, dirt, fines, cobs and stalks. No mess blowing around. Just
empty the dirty material into your compost pile, and the clean corn into
your corn stove hopper.
Just $39.95! (Iowa Hawkeye Buckets not included.) Shipping included. |
