Charles "Frank" Lytle - Hinkletown, Foote, Greene Valley, Kinross

Charles F. "Frank" Lytle was an early businessman of Hinkletown who operated general stores at Hinkletown, Greene Valley and Kinross, Iowa. He also operated the Foote Post Office at Hinkletown, and later moved it to Greene Valley. In the Post Office building at Hinkletown, the Masonic Lodge #168 was chartered on June 9, 1864. Lytle purchased the dry goods store and post office building on June 7, 1873. Around 1885 he moved the building, and perhaps the store, to Greene Valley, one mile to the northeast. His wife Kate, and Margaret Rock operated the post office at Greene Valley. The Masonic Lodge #168 continued to meet at the Foote Post Office at its three successive locations through May 8, 1901, when the lodge was moved to Kinross. The Foote Post Office closed in July, 1903.
